Mini Lampworking Session

A perfect introduction to the magical world of lampworking, this class gives you a taste of a mesmerizing art form. You will get an overview of safety precautions, a brief talk on the nature of glass, a description of tools and some important torch time to feel the magic. Most students make several beads that they are welcome to pick up the next day after the cooling off process. This is definitely the most fun class that we offer. It will leave you wanting more. The best part is that with our new state of the art studio, you can rent torch time and never have to invest in tools and equipment for a home studio. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to explore glass as it was meant to be...flowing!

Off Mandrel Buttons image

Off Mandrel Lampworking

Off Mandrel Necklace image

This class is great for all lampworkers addicted to the mandrel. Imagine a lampworking day without coating mandrels and the following day of not cleaning bead release. Let us release you from the drudge of mud, well at least a break from it. The tungsten probe and the punty are my most used tools. Knowing when to heat the tungsten and how soft the glass needs to be at the point of piercing are key to success. We will explore the gravity of the drop pendant, the clever button shapes with and without molds and many interesting possibilities of glass components. Come and try something new in out great new studio.

Off Mandrel Lampworking Weekend

I have been developing this one for quite awhile. I just finished my greatest masterpiece, (it is made of 67 graduated drops and one large button for the closure), and realized after stringing it up into a necklace that it was done completely off mandrel. I have been creating off mandrel work for quite a few years now and even amaze myself each time a new variation forms in my flame. We will retire the mandrels and the bead release and poke our own holes. The class will focus on making various cane, such as stamen and petal cane for flowers, and all kinds of twistie and lattecino work. We will work on how to properly add and take away punties, very, very key for off mandrel. We will make buttons, pendants, drops and components. All of these can be used in a variety of ways, in bracelets, earrings and necklaces...a button is not always a button. I am very excited about this class and hope everyone will take advantage of learning all that is off mandrel!
